One magazine was the backbone of science fiction from the end of the 1930's onwards, the place where new names like Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, and so many more were developed from new writers into stars. It seemed to me that a nice project would be to go through month by month, starting - well, when I could. The earliest issues under John W. Campbell's reign are hard to find and expensive, so for a "month by month" look at the biggest, best, and most astounding science fiction magazine ever, our somewhat arbitrary starting point is going to be February 1945. There will be gaps, and I'm sure parts of this site are going to be "under construction" for a long, long time; I would hope to fill in the gaps eventually, and be able to give a more detailed commentary on each month's issue, but the journey must begin with a single step, so come with us to the later stages of the Twentieth Century's second Great War, before it went atomic, and follow the link to the first monthly pages on the long journey towards Analog... |
